Beautiful Time Capsule, This 1988 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is extremely clean, with two owners who fastidiously maintained it and stored it under a cover in their garage. I am the third owner. This open-air classic spent some time in Boise Idaho, but was primarily driven in California - which is where I found it. Chevrolet built only 1,046 Corvette models in Charcoal Metallic (dark gray) in 1988, out of a total production of 22,789 cars. Just 279 of the convertible model were built in this paint color for the model year. Chevrolet built 7,407 Convertibles total in 1988. The great looking Saddle Leather interior was also quite rare, not sure why - as it is the best. * 5.7 liter OHV tuned-port injected V8 was rated new at 240 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque, * Four-Speed Automatic Transmission, * Rear Wheel Drive, * Rare “Charcoal Metallic” paint with handsome Saddle Leather. The paint looks like metallic black, dark gray and dark brown metallic in different lighting. It’s a very cool color. [ * 53,750 original miles from new, * Air Conditioning blows cold (fresh R12 recharge, and purple dye tested to ensure it does not leak), * The original Delco Bose sound system was refurbished - all four Bose Amplifiers when recently rebuilt via InMobile of Scottsdale. The proprietary Bose speakers cannot be hooked up to any other radio, this is nice to have all done and maintains the cars originality. Sounds nice too! * Black, manually folding soft top in great condition, - when lowered, the soft top is neatly hidden under a body-colored panel, * Retractable Headlamps - they tumble forward 162 and a 1/2 degrees. They are crazy! * Bosch antilock braking system with four-wheel disc brakes, * 17-inch cast aluminum wheels are stock and include Corvette logos, * 17-inch BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 tires have approx. are brand new with only 1400 miles on them (but the date codes are from 2011). The new tires were put on and the car did not traveled much in 14 years. The prior owner was said to be older, but liked having the car around, * The Corvette has a nice rumble, nice exhaust note to it. The car is a conversation piece at gas stations and car shows due to its tidy and handsome appearance.
